The young people of the Sunday School
and the Youth Group under the direction of Mrs. Ann Weary conducted Sunday’s
Service with flair and panache! The Bulletin for the Service lists the
musical numbers, readings, prayers, skits and introductions, all well done by

Ann Weary delivered the Closing
Message in which she described the variety of activities in which youth group
and Sunday School Members participated and noted the support and
participation of family and friends in making the year successful. During the
collection of the Offertory we enjoyed seeing slides of all these events.

A very touching and emotional
presentation was made by Robert Weary on behalf of the members of the Sunday
School and Youth Group to Bruce Patton. A small bouquet of flowers gave Bruce
something to do with his hands while Robert eloquently expressed their appreciation
for the many hours Bruce Patton has contributed to them over the years by
giving them an opportunity to participate in the many plays, musicals and,
more recently, the variety show “Chase Away the Winter Blues”. Bruce accepted
the scrapbook filled with messages from most of the young people he has
worked with at Lennoxville United and Robert’s kind words in his usual humble
fashion.

We are truly blessed to have such
talented young members of our Church and we thank them for conducting a
Promotion Sunday Service that was made truly memorable for the participants,
graduates and congregation. A very hearty thank you to the Sunday School
teachers, Lynsey Sylvester, Jean Porter, Lindsey
Porter and Bernice Keats, and Youth Group Leader Ann Weary for doing a superb
job of organizing the Service.
Following the Service a yummy barbecue
lunch was provided by Ken and Jean Porter, Denis and Bev Oakley, and Larry
and Debbie Everett in the Lower Scott Hall. Games and other activities were
held outdoors following lunch bringing to a close Promotion Sunday 2012.
